Serpstat starts at $50 a month and SE Ranking at $129. Serpstat is cheaper, but API and MCP access start on its $100 Team plan, while SE Ranking bundles API, MCP and multi-LLM tracking into $129 Core. Pick Serpstat for traditional SEO on a budget; SE Ranking when agents or AI tracking matter.
What do Serpstat and SE Ranking cost in October 2026?
Both vendors changed their pricing this year, and both moved in the same direction: up. The difference is where they left the floor.
SE Ranking retired its Essential, Pro and Business plans and replaced them with Core, Growth and Enterprise, a change that moved its entry point from $65 to $129 a month. Serpstat kept four tiers and a $50 floor. Anyone comparing the two with a guide written before September 2026 is comparing prices that no longer exist.
The current Serpstat ladder, as listed on the vendor's own pricing page on 19 October 2026:
- Individual: $50 a month. Five projects, 100 searches a day, 10,000 keyword position checks a month, 30,000 audited pages. No API access.
- Team: $100 a month. Unlimited projects, 500 searches a day, 150,000 audited pages, plus API access, the MCP server and an AI Overview Brand Opportunities report.
- Team x2: $169 a month. 1,000 searches a day, 100,000 position checks, 300,000 audited pages, six users.
- Agency: $410 a month. 5,000 searches a day, 500,000 position checks, 1.5 million audited pages, white-label reporting and 30 users.
SE Ranking now sells two public tiers:
- Core: $129 a month, or $103.20 on annual billing. Ten projects, one manager seat, 2,000 tracked keywords a day, five tracked LLMs with 100 AI prompts a day, 250,000 audited pages and 25,000 research API credits a month.
- Growth: $279 a month, or $223.20 on annual billing. Thirty projects, three manager seats, 5,000 tracked keywords a day, 250 AI prompts a day, two million audited pages and 100,000 research API credits.
Add-ons separate the two again. SE Ranking sells an Agency Pack at $69 a month, an AI Search add-on at $89 a month and an API add-on at $45 a month. Serpstat sells its LLM Brand Monitor as its own product rather than folding it into the tiers above.
Annual billing is worth costing before you commit. Serpstat lists savings of $228 on Individual, $348 on Team, $484 on Team x2 and $1,068 on Agency. SE Ranking applies a flat 20% annual discount, which is how $129 becomes $103.20.
Serpstat's live pricing page, checked 19 October 2026, lists Individual at $50 a month with five projects, 100 searches a day, 10,000 position checks and 30,000 audited pages, and places API and MCP access on the $100 Team plan. SE Ranking's page the same day lists Core at $129 a month, or $103.20 on annual billing, with ten projects, 2,000 tracked keywords a day and five tracked LLMs.
Sources for the numbers in this comparison: the Serpstat pricing page, the SE Ranking pricing page, Serpstat's MCP server page and SE Ranking's MCP server page, all checked on 19 October 2026. The third-party figures that no longer hold come from Marketraa's 3 July 2026 update and DabasBlog's September 2026 guide.
Most comparison pages have not caught up. Marketraa's comparison, updated 3 July 2026, says Serpstat includes API access on its $50 plan and has no AI model tracking at all. Serpstat's live page contradicts both claims, because API access now begins at $100 and multi-model tracking is sold as LLM Brand Monitor. DabasBlog's September 2026 pricing guide lists SE Ranking's Core plan at $120 in one table and $129 in another. Check the vendor pages before you budget, including this one.
Why the entry prices differ by 2.6x
Serpstat's $50 and SE Ranking's $129 are not the same product at two prices. The $50 plan is a reporting seat: keyword research, rank tracking, site audit, backlinks, five projects, one user. The $129 plan is a reporting seat plus API credits plus multi-LLM tracking plus white-label reporting plus ten projects.
The units differ too, which is why headline numbers mislead. Serpstat meters searches per day and position checks per month. SE Ranking meters tracked keywords per day. A 10,000-a-month position-check allowance works out to roughly 330 a day, which is generous for one site and thin across five.
Read the limits as work rather than as numbers. Serpstat Individual's 100 searches a day suits one person checking a handful of domains. Its five-project ceiling is the real constraint, because the rank tracker and site audit are capped there too. Adding a sixth client site doubles the bill.
Which tool tracks AI visibility better?
SE Ranking puts AI tracking inside the base plan. Core covers five LLMs across ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, AI Mode and AI Overviews, with 100 prompts a day, unlimited AI source tracking and AI competitive research on five domains. Growth raises that to 250 prompts a day and 15 domains.
Serpstat splits the same job across two products. Team and above include an AI Overview Brand Opportunities report, which is reporting rather than prompt-level tracking. Full multi-model monitoring is LLM Brand Monitor, which Serpstat's pricing page describes as covering ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and over 140 other AI models.
That split decides the purchase for anyone buying for AI search. With SE Ranking the tracking sits in the seat you already pay for. With Serpstat you either accept AI Overview reporting or buy a second product on top of the suite.
One caution applies to both. Prompt monitoring tells you what an AI says about a brand in general. It does not tell you whether an AI answer cites your page for a specific question, which is a rank-tracking problem rather than a monitoring problem. We covered the mechanics in AI Overview rank tracking.
How do the MCP servers compare for agent workflows?
This is the section most comparisons skip, and it decides the purchase for anyone running marketing with agents. Both vendors ship an official Model Context Protocol server, so either can be driven from Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor without opening a dashboard.
Serpstat's server exposes 63 tools in two forms. The HTTP version authorizes once over OAuth, works on web, desktop and mobile, and keeps all 63 tools available. The STDIO version is a local Node server where the API token stays on your machine and you choose which tool groups to load, which keeps tool definitions out of the context window.
SE Ranking's server is remote and centrally hosted. It exposes 180+ tools across keyword research, domain analysis, backlinks, audits and AI search visibility, connects with a single URL, and ships open-source Claude Skills for content briefs, AI share of voice and technical audits.
Architecture matters more than the tool count. Serpstat's local mode suits an agent that should not send a token over the network, and it lets you trim the tool list so the model does not spend its context on 180 definitions. SE Ranking's hosted mode suits a team that wants the same connector in Claude, ChatGPT and Cursor with nothing to install.
Credits decide how often either server actually runs. SE Ranking publishes 25,000 research API credits on Core and 100,000 on Growth, and bills MCP against those same credits. Serpstat places API access on Team and above without publishing a per-plan credit figure on its pricing page, so ask for the number that matches your call volume instead of assuming it is unlimited.
Where each tool's usage limits actually bite
Serpstat's hard edge is project count. Individual allows five projects, and the rank tracker and site audit are capped alongside them. Team removes the project cap, which is why $100 is the price most small agencies end up paying rather than $50.
SE Ranking's hard edge is seats and keywords. Core gives ten projects but a single manager seat, and extra seats cost from $16 a month. Two people sharing a Core plan is a $145 a month arrangement before any usage expansion.
Audit capacity is not close. SE Ranking Core includes 250,000 audited pages per account and 250,000 per project. Serpstat Individual includes 30,000 pages a month with a 5,000-page ceiling on any single scan. If you crawl large sites, that difference is the decision on its own.
Serpstat wins on price per project. Unlimited projects on Team for $100 against 30 projects on SE Ranking Growth for $279. An agency running twenty small client sites gets more raw project capacity from Serpstat for less money, and pays for it in AI tracking and audit depth.
Is Serpstat cheaper than SE Ranking over a full year?
On annual billing, SE Ranking Core costs $1,238.40 a year. Serpstat Individual lists $228 off its annual price, which implies roughly $372 a year, so the two are separated by about $866 in year one. That gap is real if all you need is a reporting seat for one site.
The gap closes the moment you need agent access. Serpstat Team is $1,200 a year at list, or about $852 with the $348 annual saving the page lists. SE Ranking Core on annual billing is $1,238.40. At that point the two are close enough that AI visibility, audit capacity and the MCP design decide the purchase rather than the price.
Trials are not equivalent either. Serpstat gives seven days and activates auto-renewal when the trial starts, with a $1 verification charge refunded in five to 30 minutes. SE Ranking gives 14 days with 750 tracked keywords a day and 20 AI prompts a day, and asks for no card up front.
Which one should you buy?
Choose Serpstat when the work is traditional search, one person runs the tool, and you manage five or fewer sites. Individual covers keyword research, rank tracking, site audits and backlinks for $50. If you need more projects, Team at $100 adds API access, the MCP server and unlimited projects, which is a lot of capacity for the money.
Choose SE Ranking when AI visibility is on the roadmap, when you want API and MCP inside the entry plan, when you audit large sites, or when you need white-label reporting without a separate add-on. Core covers all four at $129, and Growth at $279 is the version a small agency can bill against three seats.
A short way to decide:
- Fewer than five sites, one user, no agent: Serpstat Individual at $50.
- Many small sites and no AI tracking requirement: Serpstat Team at $100, because projects are unlimited.
- AI visibility or agent access needed at entry: SE Ranking Core at $129.
- Multiple sites, multiple people, client-ready reports: SE Ranking Growth at $279 or Serpstat Agency at $410.
Neither is the right buy if you only need rank tracking and a keyword check once a week. That job is covered by a tool costing $12 to $30 a month, and paying $600 to $1,500 a year for it is how small teams end up with software they open on the first of the month and never again. Our roundup of SEO rank tracking software covers that cheaper lane.
The larger question is whether to buy a suite at all. An agent wired to Search Console plus one cheap data source covers keyword checks, rank tracking and site audits for a single operator, and a suite earns its price when you need dashboards a client will read or capacity you cannot replicate. We argued that trade-off in SE Ranking alternatives and in best SEO platforms.
Both tools are competent, and both will cost more next year. Buy the one whose limits match the work you will actually do over the next six months, then revisit the decision when the work changes rather than when the renewal arrives.
